Why is SAREX important?

There's a number of reasons for that. It brings the community together to give you a sense of purpose, to give a shared sense of a mission. It acts as a way of standardizing our procedures, the way we communicate to each other. It enables us to work with our partners that might be outside of what we work with every day, whether it's the U.S. Coast Guard and other different entities outside of the Canadian Forces.

We have some international folks coming from Chile and from Brazil and from Spain. It’s the personal connections in a special organization like SAR that allow us to help promote the SAR system across the globe.

It's nice to know that you've already built the relationships with the people that you're working with, that you've been there, you know them, you can communicate with them, your expectations can be met in a short timeline, and you can run an effective operation.
