Hello everyone. Bonjour tout le monde.
Today, I join Canadians across the country and around the globe in celebrating the greatest country in the world — Canada.
Our country is home to over 40 million people.
We’re a diverse country.
It’s one of our strengths and it’s something that we are proud of. Canada is made up of many cultures that enrich our communities – including the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people who have resided here for time immemorial.
The languages that we speak.
The many that countries we hail from.
The many faiths that we practice… are all part of Canada’s multicultural fabric.
Today is an opportunity to celebrate that diversity — and the values of inclusion and freedom that are at the core of our nation.
And as we celebrate Canada Day, I’d like to thank the brave Canadians who serve as members of the Canadian Armed Forces.
You proudly represent our country at home and abroad, promoting Canadian values and the international rules that Canada helped to establish.
From Vimy Ridge to Juno Beach, from the hills of Korea to the mountains of Afghanistan, Canadian Armed Forces members throughout our history have stood up for what is right.
And when floods and fires put communities at risk, Canadian Armed Forces members are there to help their fellow citizens.
And today, as Ukrainians fight bravely for our shared values, Canada is once again doing what it has always done: standing up for what is right, and giving Ukrainians the tools and skills that they need to defend themselves.
To the outstanding members of our Army, Navy, Air Force, and Special Forces: thank you for your service to Canada.
Whether you’re here at home or deployed around the world — please know how grateful we are for your contributions, your leadership and your service.
I wish all Canadians a very happy Canada Day.
Bonne fête du Canada!
