Each Fall, CAF members participate in the National Veterans’ Week Speakers Program (NVWSP).  This initiative takes place across the country every year and highlights the contributions that CAF members and Canadian veterans have made to uphold Canadian values throughout our history.

Last year, CAF members participated in an unprecedented number of events, reaching more than 740,000 Canadians. As CAF members and veterans, your participation is key to the program’s success.

This year, from November 5 to 11, Veterans’ Week 2020 will mark important events such as the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. It will also pay tribute to all veterans, past and present, who have served our country.

In light of challenges and risks presented by COVID-19, we have adapted our approach to ensure the safety and security of our volunteer speakers and our communities. This means that the 2020 NVWSP will focus on virtual engagements, with learning institutions and community organizations via video presentations rather than in-person appearances by CAF members.

Virtual "Wall of CAF"

CAF members are once again encouraged to volunteer to participate in the NVWSP. Consider engaging in live presentations using virtual platforms to speak directly to Canadians – including community organizations, and students of all ages – throughout Veterans’ Week.

A toolkit is available to help you plan your participation, and can be found on our web page. Your regional NVWSP representative, as well as the national coordinating team, are also available to provide guidance and support.

Information on how exactly you can participate in the program, including a CANFORGEN (link accessible only on the National Defence network) and CDS Tasking Order (link accessible only on the National Defence network), are available online.
