The Mercury Global Project earned this honour by delivering military satellite communications (SatCom) capabilities globally
On October 1, 2020 the Mercury Global Project team, from DGIMPD within ADM(IM), was awarded an Excellence in Project Management Award, as part of the Government of Canada’s Chief Information Officer Community Awards.
These awards highlight and recognize outstanding achievements in the functional communities that are supported by Chief Information Officers. They recognize the many innovative initiatives and their impacts on the lives of Canadians, and recognize exceptional employees that go above and beyond.
The Mercury Global Project earned this honour by delivering military satellite communications (SatCom) capabilities globally. This enabled SatCom connectivity for domestic and international operations to meet the command and control needs of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). With the recent delivery of the Mercury Global capability, the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) has a world class satellite communications (SatCom) system incorporating the latest digital technologies. The outcomes of Mercury Global will make an important difference to the CAF’s communication capability for many years and will act as the SatCom backbone into the 2030’s and beyond.
The Mercury Global Project team is comprised of; Scott MacKenzie (team lead), Cathy Barrie, Elim Chan, Zach Fradette, Frank Franczyk, Pierre Godon, Kerim Khan, Elisabeth Pasierb, Robert Stark, Neil Walker, Nadine Zackodnik, Capt Raees Ahmed, CPO2 Stephane Thibert, Claude Bernard and Cdr Robert McColl.
Many others were involved in making this project a success. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without each and every one of them.
Congratulations to the team on their significant achievement!
