December 21, 2020 - Defence Stories
Defence Team: it is our responsibility to stay in the “know” with all COVID-19 related updates, specifically when it impacts our organization. The CDS/DM Directive for the Resumption of Sustained Activities in a COVID-19 Environment (Fall 2020 Posture) has been amended to reflect new information.
Here is an overview of what’s new:
Reimbursement of Miscellaneous Expenses
A CANFORGEN 147/20 outlines Reimbursement of Miscellaneous Expenses to CAF and Civilian Employees due to COVID-19, 12 November 2020. Please be sure to consult this information if you think it may apply to you. Other CANFORGEN information can be found on page 3.
Avoid the 3C’s
Public Health officials are warning Canadians to “avoid the 3Cs settings wherever possible” to prevent large clusters of COVID-19 infections (found on page 5):
- closed spaces with poor ventilation;
- crowded places where many people gather; and
- close contact situations.
Indoor Social Gatherings regarding upcoming holidays
CAF members and DND employees are urged to limit indoor social gatherings to their immediate household during the holiday period, except to be reunited with their primary next of kin. Local PHMs should be considered the minimum measures adhered to by all CAF members and DND employees (found on page 90). Additional safety advice from the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) can be found at the following link: https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/2019-novel-coronavirus-infection/guidance-documents/plan-safe-holiday-celebration.html.
Updated Non-Medical Mask (NMM) measures
There is an updated recommendation for the use of 3-layer non-medical masks from public health authorities. More information can be found here.
