Recognizing Diversity and Inclusion: Deputy Minister Event
June 8, 2021 - Defence Stories

Join Deputy Minister Jody Thomas on June 18th, to discuss the work that is underway to build more inclusive and respectful workplaces and celebrate accomplishments already being made across Defence.
In response to the Clerk of the Privy Council’s Call to Action on anti-racism, equity and inclusion, L1s have developed Employment Equity and Diversity and Inclusion (EEDI) Action Plans to help eliminate racism and discrimination within the Defence Team.
Guest speakers—ADM(IE) Rob Chambers, ADM(Mat) Troy Crosby, Brigadier-General Michael Rafter, Defence Champion for Women RAdm Rebecca Patterson, Civilian Co-Chair Defence Advisory Group for Visible Minorities Denise Moore and Rear-Admiral Chris Sutherland—will each present their EEDI Action Plans. The strategies will highlight the steps which their organizations are taking to create a workplace that Canadians aspire to join. Audience members will have the chance to provide feedback and ask questions through Slido.
The second portion of the event will recognize teams and individuals who have made tremendous changes to the Diversity and Inclusion space this year, through the presentation of the Deputy Minister’s Commendation Award for Diversity and Inclusion.
