Accelerating and celebrating innovation: New IDEaS Sharepoint site now live

The Innovation for Defence, Excellence and Security (IDEaS) program is proud to present its new SharePoint site (accessible only on the National Defence network)! The newly designed site will showcase technological advances funded by the program, celebrate successes and inform internal stakeholders on how the program works. 

Since 2018, IDEaS has helped advance promising technology from the Canadian innovator community in order to create viable solutions to challenges faced by the Defence Team.

A recent example of technology progression featured on the new site is a Test Drive funded by IDEaS on cyber attribution (accessible only on the National Defence network). In collaboration with Canadian technology firm Sapper Labs, IDEaS and CANSOFCOM are investing $7.5M to acquire and test their cyber attribution technology to help identify malicious cyber activity and the perpetrators of these sophisticated threats. Initially funded through the Competitive Projects element, the technology has matured to the point where it is now ready to be test driven by the Defence Team.

While working with innovators and L1s to meet defence challenges, IDEaS regularly draws upon the capacity and personnel of Defence Research and Development Canada and DND/CAF to support the program as challenge managers, integrators and evaluators. The program also relies on the support and technical advice of our internal scientific and technical stakeholders.
