As of September 1, 2022, there will be an increase in membership dues for all employees who are covered by a collective agreement with the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC).

Membership dues will increase from 0.9557% plus $1.00 per month per member to 0.9593% plus $1.00 per month per member. These adjustments will be made automatically and will appear on your first pay in September.

You are encouraged to calculate your union dues to ensure the correct amount is applied on your salary. When calculating your union dues, remember that they are based on the 1st step salary of your classification as found in your most recent collective agreement and they do not apply to overtime.

Here’s an example calculation of the new union applied to the AS-01 classification group with the Union of National Defence Employees:

AS-1 - Annual rates of pay (in dollars)
Effective date Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4
$) June 21, 2017 51,538 53,498 55,530 57,643
A) June 21, 2018* 52,981 54,996 57,085 59,257
B) June 21, 2019* 54,147 56,206 58,341 60,561
C) June 21, 2020* 54,878 56,965 59,129 61,379

$54, 878 (AS-101 earning 1st step salary) multiplied by 0.9593% (New PSAC rate) plus 0.52559% (Union of national Defence Employees [UNDE] rate equals $814.88 (Dues for 12 months [1 year]) plus $1 per month (Other PSAC membership monthly dues for the PSAC Strike Fund)

This means that your dues per month would be $814.88 divided by 12 months = $67.91 plus $1.00 per member per month = $68.91.

Any enquiries regarding these membership dues changes should be directed to the Public Service Alliance of Canada.
