Get Cyber Safe this holiday season
December 6, 2022 - Defence Stories
The holiday season is upon us once again and Get Cyber Safe wants Canadians to have a cyber safe holiday. This year, Get Cyber Safe is introducing a new tradition - Unboxing Day! Held on December 27, Unboxing Day is when Canadians open up all the cool new devices they got over the holiday season and make sure they’re secure. The Get Cyber Safe holiday web page also has a variety of updated holiday resources, including (but not limited to):
- Get Cyber Safe gift guide – tips on securing the latest tech;
- New device checklist – tips on securing your new gadget;
- Gingerbread home network kit – which allows you to turn a traditional gingerbread house into a home network complete with router and laptop;
- Santa Got Hacked – the classic tale of when Santa fell for a phishing scam;
- Holiday infographics – quick visual guides to promote cyber security;
- Holiday passphrase generator – a fun holiday-themed tool that helps you create unique passphrases; and
- Get Cyber Safe gift wrap and gift tags, carols, and a festive yule firewall channel (you are now leaving the Government of Canada website).
