DND’s Student Experience Testimonial: Christian Costello

My name is Christian, I am from Saint John, New Brunswick and I am a student working at the Department of National Defence (DND). I am currently living in Ottawa and attending Carleton University where I am completing my Masters of Arts (M.A) in communications. In my spare time I enjoy playing golf!

I got my current job through the Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP). I work on the Engagement team under Assistant Deputy Minister (Human Resources-Civilian) where I am able to gain valuable experience in my field of work.  . My experience at DND has been amazing! My team members are so welcoming and inclusive. . What I like most about working at DND is the collaborative environment.  

As part of the hybrid workplace model, I work from home and in an office. The office is a collaborative space and provides lots of opportunities to work as a team. As for working from home allows me to pursue my masters while I work part-time. My goals this summer are to graduate from my program and hopefully obtain a full-time position within DND.
