By Canadian Joint Operations Command Headquarters

Joint Operations Symposium 2023 (JOS 2023) planning is proceeding at a good pace, and shaping up to be an excellent forum for senior leadership across the National Security enterprise to discuss current and rapidly evolving threats to Canada, North America and to our Allies.  As a reminder, the main theme is: Strengthening Canadian and North American Defences: Reshaping and reinvesting in deterrence to better defend against threats to Canada and North America in a time of resurgent strategic competition.  With in-person and virtual attendance, the symposium will take place on 21 and 22 February, 2023 at the Canadian War Museum.  The two-day event includes a keynote speech by Dr. Hal Brands, and four panel discussions focused on the topics summarized below:

Panel 1: How to deter armed conflict and sub-threshold actions in the 21st Century: determining what essential pillars underpin an effective deterence framework.

Panel 2: Strengthening National Defence and Domestic Resiliency: Deterring against adversarial actions below the threshold of armed conflict.

Panel 3: Adapting to New Realities: How will Canada meet its National, CANUS and NORAD obligations?

Panel 4: Addressing a gap in North American Continental Defence: Strengthening the Maritime Defence of Canada.

In person attendance is by invitation only, however, virtual attendance is still open by registering on our JOS 2023 website, where further information is also available, including the full program agenda.   We are looking forward to an exciting and informative symposium and hope you will join us by registering now
