Make sure to check your leave balances as you may be subject to automatic cash-out!

In accordance with previous TBS/OCHRO communication to Heads of HR in November 2020, we want to remind employees that the moratorium for automatic cash-out of paid leave was lifted on March 31, 2022 and will not be extended.

Here’s what this means for you:

• If you have vacation and compensatory leave balances above the carry-over limit, you will receive an automatic payment for 100% of your earned but unused excess vacation and compensatory leave (over limit) accumulated during this fiscal year (2022-2023). In addition, you will be paid out 20% of the remaining balance that’s above the carry-over limit.
  • Refer to your respective collective agreement to find out what your carry-over limits and options are, and what rate of pay will be used to pay out the mandatory cash-out.
