Message from Associate Deputy Minister of National Defence, Natasha Kim, to all members of the Defence Team

As your new Associate Deputy Minister of National Defence, I am reaching out to all members of the Defence Team to say “Hello!”

After only a few days on the job, I am already impressed with the exciting and important work you do to help keep Canada and Canadians safe and to defend Canadian values around the world. Your reputation precedes you, and the high level of dedication and professionalism you bring to many complex issues and initiatives is readily apparent. The work you do and the challenges you face are unlike any other and I feel very privileged for the opportunity to be a part of this organization.

Over the coming months, I will be learning much more about how military and civilian members across the Defence Team work alongside one another to serve our country, contributing to our shared priorities in support to Minister Anand, Deputy Minister Matthews, and Chief of the Defence Staff General Eyre, alongside Vice Chief of the Defence Staff Lieutenant-General Allen. A top priority is to ensure everyone on the Defence Team, military and civilian alike, can bring their best self to service. I am looking forward to getting to know – and hearing from – you through town halls, coffee talks, and visits, so that we can have honest discussions during such an important time in the evolution of the Defence Team.

I know it is a busy time of year, so I will just close by saying thank you for the very warm welcome and, until next time!
