Start your student hiring for fall and winter

Student hiring doesn’t end in the summer! Approximately 40% of our annual student hiring occurs in the fall and winter. The struggle for sustained employment continues to be very real for students all over Canada and, therefore, remains a call to action for the Public Service.
Now is the time to consider rehiring your existing students to continue working through the fall and winter and to find new students to support your upcoming needs!
Students are available to work part-time or full-time (if choosing a candidate from co-op), throughout the school year. As well, don’t forget that, once students have graduated, they can be hired directly (student bridging) (only accessible on the National Defence network) to term and indeterminate positions – an excellent way to support workforce rejuvenation!
At the Department of National Defence (DND), we have three (3) mechanisms to hire students:
- Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP)
- Post-Secondary Co-operative Program (Co-op)/Internship Program Research Affiliate Program (RAP)
- Research Affiliate Program (RAP)
