New lock screens are coming to your computer this Fall!

Defence Team members, your log-in screen will have a brand-new look in the coming weeks! On September 25, common lock screens will officially launch across all DWAN computers at Defence.

What is a lock screen and how will mine change?

Simply put, a lock screen, is the screen you see before logging into your computer.

Some of us may have set our lock screen to display images of our friends and family, a scenic background taken during a vacation, or even our favourite pet.

Starting September 25, each time you sign into your computer, a series of graphics with important Defence Team information will automatically appear and rotate throughout the course of your workday. These images will be updated and refreshed on a weekly basis to provide you with key DND/CAF information that’s relevant to you.

While these images won’t be clickable, you will be directed where to go for more information on each topic, such as The Maple Leaf, Canada.ca, or the Defence Team intranet.

Why lock screens?

Recent surveys indicated that Defence Team members want to be better informed on Defence Team issues, policies, and events, however, they’re already getting too many emails as it is. These new lock screen images provide a visual, non-intrusive way to receive critical information without cluttering your inbox.

Your lock screens will provide you with information on upcoming events, programs and services to support you and your families, and messages from senior leadership.

How do lock screens work?

As part of our commitment to help increase awareness and knowledge of priorities affecting the workplace across Defence, the images featured on these lock screens can no longer be changed in your settings.
