March 8th is International Women's Day, a day to recognize and celebrate women’s and girls’ social, economic, cultural, and political achievements. For the Defence Team, International Women’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate what we have accomplished so far and to reaffirm our commitment to addressing persistent gaps within our organization. This year, the theme is “Inspire Inclusion” #InspireInclusion.
Discussion Panel: #InspiringInclusion and the positive impacts of different perspectives
Mark your calendars! The Defence Champion for Women Lieutenant-General Lise Bourgon is hosting a hybrid, in-person / virtual discussion panel, on Friday, March 8th. Expect an exciting discussion about the impacts of inclusion at home and abroad – and how you too can make a difference in the workplace no matter your rank or position. Defence Team members can join from anywhere in Canada via Microsoft Teams.
Panelists include military and civilian members of various ranks and positions who are recognized as leaders in their communities and who make a difference to the Defence Team.

This year’s panelists include:
- Major Ye Hee (Leona) Ahn, Logistics Officer in Edmonton and grievance analyst at CPCC. Vice-chair of WIIS-Canada and human security advocate.
- Sailor 1st Class Hayley Bragg, Intelligence Operator at Trinity MOSIC in Halifax. Recognized at many levels for her performance on overseas deployments.
- Dr. Vanessa Brown, assistant professor at Canadian Forces College in Toronto. Focuses on gender and cultural perspectives in military pedagogy and security.
- Warrant Officer Sara Anvari, Signal Operator and Chief Information Security Officer at BDC. Recipient of the Capt Nichola Goddard Leadership Award.
National Capital Region Women’s Trade Show
Booths will be set up at NDHQ Carling, featuring women-focused organizations and businesses, as well as a variety of Defence Team organizations.

National Virtual Event: Speed Mentoring
