Director Official Languages Official Languages Newsletter

The Director Official Languages (DOL) is pleased to share the seventh edition of its Newsletter, (accessible only on the National Defence network), published on a quarterly basis.

In this issue, Paul Forget, Acting Director Official Languages, provides advice on best practices for holding bilingual meetings in person, virtually or in hybrid mode. Moreover, he shares relevant information on complaints received by DOL regarding bilingual meetings.

This Newsletter also provides information on the right way to save documents in compliance with Canada’s Official Languages Act (OLA) and presents a variety of subjects related to your official languages (OL) rights and responsibilities/obligations as well as resources and tools to help you create an OL-friendly workplace.

DOL hopes that this information channel will help raise the level of understanding of OL rights and responsibilities among the entire Defence Team and motivate everyone’s commitment to respect the OLA, particularly through the sharing of best practices within our organization.

The Newsletter is one of the many initiatives DOL has taken to promote a sustainable culture of linguistic respect and individual OL rights within the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces, in accordance with Canada’s Official Languages Act, the Treasury Board OL Policy and Directives, the DND/CAF Official Languages Strategy and Official Languages Action Plan [PDF, 864KB] (accessible only on the National Defence network).

We welcome your comments and suggestions.
