CareerCOACH+ celebrates one year anniversary
CareerCOACH+ celebrated its first anniversary on March 1, 2025.
Developed by Military Family Services (MFS), a division of Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) and powered through CareerJoy, the career coaching program is open to all non-serving military spouses and partners.
Through CareerCOACH+ military spouses and partners can access free, confidential, customized one-to-one professional career coaching. The program also includes an online digital learning lab with templates, videos and worksheets to allow for self-paced learning.
“It’s a bespoke program with a lot of flexibility,” says Vanessa Walsh, Senior Manager, MFS Spousal Employment Programs at CFMWS. “Participants have five or more one-hour sessions with a professional career coach and they choose what they want to accomplish. They can focus on networking, having their resume reviewed, job searching, mock interviewing, or updating their LinkedIn profile. It’s up to them.”
500 military spouses accessed CareerCOACH+ in 2024
The virtual platform means it can be accessed from anywhere and is open to military spouses and partners who are OUTCAN, with appointments available to accommodate different time zones.
“We really want to spread the word that this individualized career coaching is available,” says Vanessa. "People’s employment and their career is tied to many domains of well-being. If things aren’t going well for someone careerwise, or if a military family is uprooted because of a posting it can lead to a cascade of challenges in various aspects of their lives.”
