Defence and security leaders, policy experts, and practitioners will convene this fall at the Women, Peace and Security 2025 Conference to reflect on 25 years of global progress and ongoing challenges in the implementation of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda.

The event will take place on October 28-29 at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. In-person attendance is by invitation, with virtual access open to all Defence Team members through Microsoft Teams.

The conference’s theme is “From Policy to Practice: 25 Years of Women, Peace and Security”, and presentations and discussions will highlight how understanding human factors in conflict and crisis through intersectional analysis and consideration of WPS issues contributes to operational effectiveness and mission success in modern security environments.

Participants will hear from a range of speakers, representing Canada, NATO, the UN, Ukraine, Bosnia, and other international partners. Sessions will address diverse topics including women’s participation in conflict resolution, international humanitarian law, defence policy, and peacebuilding operations.

The event provides an opportunity for professional development and knowledge sharing across the Defence Team and among the broader security and academic communities. Attendees will gain insight into how inclusive security practices enhance operational outcomes, while also contributing to Canada’s broader WPS commitments.

The live-stream version of the event is open to anyone who registers. Registration is currently open.
