Enhance your ability to apply a GBA Plus approach within the defence context. “Conducting GBA Plus in the Defence Context” courses are now available on the Defence Learning Network (DLN) for all members of the Defence Team, including a tailored course for leaders.
What is GBA Plus?
GBA Plus is an analytical tool used to assess how men, women, and gender-diverse members experience the work environment differently. It helps identify varying needs and supports the development of policies and programs to reflect these diverse experiences. You can learn more at Gender-Based Analysis Plus at National Defence - Canada.ca
What will I learn?
Participants will learn the steps to conduct a GBA Plus analysis as well as recognize the challenges and supports needed during the GBA Plus process. This can improve Defence Team outcomes developing policies, programs, and operations that consider the diverse experiences of members.
These courses demonstrate how applying GBA Plus can enhance operational effectiveness, support recruitment and retention, and help build a culture of trust and respect. By recognizing different needs and perspectives, the Defence Team can be better equipped to adapt, innovate, and deliver on its mission while reflecting the diverse society it serves.
What do I need to do first?
Before signing up, participants are required to take a pre-requisite course, available through the Canada School of Public Service, called “Introduction to Gender-based Analysis Plus (GBA Plus)".
How do I register?
Following approval from your manager/commander, you can register for English and French Conducting GBA Plus in the Defence Context courses on the Defence Learning Network (DLN).
If you have any problems finding the courses, log in to your DLN account and search “Gender Based Analysis” or simply “GBA”.
Check the schedule often as new classes are regularly scheduled in both official languages.
Is there a cost associated?
While the virtual full-day courses are free to attend, there is a cancellation fee. More details on this policy are available within the course listings on the DLN.
