“Free financial education, so spending doesn't sneak up on you.”

If you’ve recently spotted a figure in a ghillie suit covered in Canadian bills, no, you’re not imagining things. Meet Bhillie, the new face of SISIP Financial’s Financial Education campaign.

At first glance, Bhillie is clever. A playful twist on camouflage, designed to “sneak up” on spending habits before they sneak up on you. But Bhillie isn’t just there for laughs. He’s part of an outreach effort to help Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members and their families pay closer attention to their financial well-being.

Characters in learning aren’t just fun, they’re also backed by solid research showing that learners engage more deeply when learning feels approachable, human, non‑traditional, and emotionally resonant.

Why introduce Bhillie?

Let’s be honest. Financial education isn’t always the first thing people get excited about.

Between training, deployments, relocations, and family life, it can feel like one more thing on an already full plate. And when topics like budgeting, debt, investing, or life insurance come up, they can feel complicated fast.

Bhillie is simply a way to grab attention and start the conversation. A lighthearted reminder that spending can “sneak up” on any of us, and that a little planning can go a long way.

Financial readiness starts here

Financial stress doesn’t stay at home. It can affect focus, morale, and overall well-being. That’s why financial health is recognized as an important part of total health and wellness across the CAF.

SISIP’s Financial Education Program is available at no cost to CAF members and their families. It offers practical tools and information to help you:

The goal isn’t to turn everyone into financial experts overnight. It’s to help you build confidence by creating a financial game plan that works for your life.

To explore SISIP’s free Financial Education resources, CAF members and their families can visit the SISIP Financial website or connect with their local SISIP advisor.
