Dear colleagues,

From August 17 to 21, we mark Public Service Pride Week. This is a time to recognize the essential contributions of 2SLGBTQIA+ public servants and to strengthen our commitment to a high-performing, inclusive public service.

This year’s theme, “Everybody In!”, is a call to action. While "coming out" is a personal journey, "coming in" to a supportive environment is a shared commitment we make to our colleagues. We each have a role to play in building a culture where everyone has a place and voice at the table.

We celebrate the progress that has been made toward a more representative public service, but continued leadership and effort are needed to address remaining barriers. It requires allies to act as active partners who stand up for 2SLGBTQIA+ colleagues, from headquarters and regional offices to those working in the field or at sea. In doing so, we hold up our ideals of diversity, equity and inclusion as a standard for all.

Each of you has a vital role in upholding these values. We encourage leaders at all levels to take an active part in this week’s activities. Your visible support and participation show a collective commitment to a workplace where everyone belongs.

The week’s events include opportunities for celebrating, learning and networking. Departments, agencies, and Crown corporations across the country have collaborated to organize a wide range of activities – a testament to what "Everybody In!" looks like in practice.

We invite you to explore the full list of in-person and virtual celebrations. Your participation helps create a public service where all employees feel respected, supported, and able to contribute at their best.
