On this Official Languages Day, we invite you to celebrate the vital role that English and French play within the Defence Team. This day also provides an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to integrating both languages into our decision-making, our leadership practices, and our workplace.

This year’s theme, “Two Voices in Harmony”, highlights the power of music in bringing together generations, cultures, and communities. It also reminds us of the richness that English and French bring to our workplace when they are valued and used every day.

Our two official languages are much more than a means of communication: they reflect our identity, our values, and the diversity that is the strength of our team. Every effort we make to learn, practise, or promote English and French helps create a more inclusive workplace where everyone can participate fully and give their very best. Let’s continue to make room for them in our daily interactions and activities.

As the Official Languages Co-Champions for the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces, we are encouraged by the efforts being made within the Defence Team.
