It’s that time of year again – the time to set new goals for a new year. Why not make fitness one of those goals? Many people decide to try a new sport or start going to the gym more often. But the best way to start a new habit is to have a goal to work toward, and here’s one for you: Participate in the 11th Annual Royal Canadian Air Force Run happening at 17 Wing Winnipeg, Manitoba, on May 26, 2019.
This event has something for everyone. New to running but want to try a race? We’ve got a 5-kilometre race for you. Have a family and want to participate together? Join us for the 3-kilometre Family Fun Run/Walk. Or, maybe you’re an experienced runner and want a new challenge? Sign up for our 10-kilometre or half-marathon. We even have a two-person relay half-marathon for people who want to try out this distance but may not be ready to run the full 21.1 kilometres. And this race comes with a plus: if you sign up for the two-person relay, you’re guaranteed to have a training buddy!
While the RCAF Run is a chance for members of the Canadian Armed Forces to increase our fitness while having fun, the event is also an excellent opportunity for us to showcase 17 Wing/Canadian Forces Base Winnipeg to the larger Winnipeg community.
Winnipeggers are curious to see what 17 Wing/CFB Winnipeg is all about. They want to know what the Hercules are doing flying overhead every day. They want to know what the unique nose of the Dash-8 is all about. In short, they want to know what we do, and the RCAF Run is our chance to show them. There isn’t another race in Canada where participants can run along a military flight line, past military helicopters and planes, while being cheered on by military personnel.
The RCAF Run is a great event. Encourage your friends to sign up, or challenge your coworkers to a competition for the fastest 5k. Tell your neighbours about the event or mention it to your teammates at your next hockey practice. If you decide to participate and challenge yourself to something new, 17 Wing Personnel Support Program staff can help you prepare.

See you on May 26!
