Canadian Army Reservists to Conduct Training throughout Atlantic Canada

News Release

May 11, 2016 – Halifax – National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces

Over one hundred Canadian Army (CA) Reservists serving with 36 and 37 Canadian Brigade Groups will conduct training throughout the Atlantic Provinces from May 13 to 15, 2016. This training is a key part of the annual readiness verification conducted by all Army Reserve units in order to maintain a high degree of operational readiness.

A vital link to Canadian communities, 36 and 37 Canadian Brigade Groups consist of predominantly part-time Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members who contribute to the defence and security of Canada. The role of the Canadian Army Reserve is to deliver a professional part-time force that provides local engagement and a responsive integrated capability, at home or abroad, in support of the Canadian Army’s mandate.

The Army Reserve is a robust, well-trained, predominantly part-time force with units throughout Canada.  It will remain a key component to the CAF’s ability to meet Canada’s security and defence needs in the future.

These exercises contribute to the operational readiness of the Canadian Armed Forces. Operational readiness allows the CAF to meet the likely tasks that the Government of Canada could assign.
