Defence Minister Sajjan visits Canadian Armed Forces members deployed on Operation IMPACT

Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan today concluded a productive visit to Iraq and Kuwait, where he met with Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) personnel currently deployed in the region as part of Operation IMPACT, which is Canada’s contribution to the Global Coalition to counter the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
Following his visit to the CAF area of operations, Minister Sajjan thanked CAF members for their dedication to service and the important work they are carrying out alongside Coalition partners to defeat ISIL.
During his visit, Minister Sajjan also had an opportunity to meet with his Iraqi and Kuwaiti counterparts as well as other senior officials. He underscored Canada’s ongoing commitment to Iraq and to the region’s stability, including as an active Global Coalition partner, highlighting the productive work being carried out by CAF members under Operation IMPACT.
Next week, in Washington, DC, Minister Sajjan will attend a meeting of defence ministers from countries leading the Global Coalition to counter ISIL.
