“I am honoured to lead the very dedicated JPSU personnel,” said Brigadier-General Corbould. “My priority is to ensure that each and every ill and injured member posted to the JPSU has access to the best support, services, and programs during their recovery so that they may return to full military duty or successfully transition to civilian life – whichever best suits the combined needs of the member and the Canadian Armed Forces.”

Quick Facts
- The Joint Personnel Support Unit (JPSU) structure was established, originally as a project, in 2008 to care for the influx of visibly ill and injured Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members from operations in Afghanistan. Over time, the scope of programs, the delivery of services, and the nature of injuries treated has changed considerably.
- In 2015, the Chief of the Defence Staff ordered a holistic review of the JPSU which highlighted areas that were working well, and areas that needed improvement to enhance the support to our ill and injured personnel.
- The JPSU is currently undergoing a restructuring process to address several of the issues raised in the review. Some of the more significant changes include improving staffing levels in the 24 Integrated Personnel Support Centres, and realigning the leadership structure by integrating Environmental Commands, to increase overall accountability and better-enable the provision of services to our members.
- An evidence-based, in-depth review is ongoing with representatives from the JPSU, the Commands, Canadian Forces Health Services, Director General Military Careers and others to lay the foundation for the improved structure and implement the way ahead to improve care and services for ill and injured members.
- The JPSU and its 24 Integrated Personnel Support Centres and eight Satellites Sites provide services and support to over 1500 members who are posted to the JPSU for a period of six months or more. In addition, the organization directly supports over 3000 walk-in clients on an annual basis.
