Canadian Armed Forces Small Arms Concentration Concludes

Tomorrow marks the end of the Canadian Armed Forces Small Arms Concentration, the 95th annual marksmanship competition held at the Connaught Ranges and Primary Training Centre in Ottawa.
Over 500 shooters and staff participated in the two-week event, including teams from the Canadian Army’s Regular Force and Primary Reserve units, Canadian Ranger Patrol Groups, the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN), Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), Canadian law enforcement agencies , as well as international teams from the United Kingdom and the United States.

- The Canadian Armed Forces Small Arms Concentration is an annual marksmanship event that is organized by the Canadian Army and welcomes participants from the RCN, RCAF, Canadian police services, and international forces.
- The Canadian Armed Forces Small Arms Concentration provides new and experienced participants with an opportunity to improve operational marksmanship skills and knowledge in a controlled and tactically-focused environment.
- Canadian Armed Forces Small Arms Concentration participants who excelled in the shooting matches were presented individual and team awards. The highest award is the Queen’s Medal for Champion Shot, presented to the Canadian Regular and Reserve Force shooter respectively, who obtains the highest aggregate score during the annual Queen`s Medal matches.
- Major Ken Barling, 435 Squadron, 17 Wing, Winnipeg, was awarded the Queen's Medal for Regular Force top marksman and Corporal Dave Ferguson, 1st Battalion, The Nova Scotia Highlanders, Nova Scotia, was awarded the Queen's Medal for Primary Reserve top marksman. Mustafa Dedeci, 2nd Canadian Ranger Patrol Group, was awarded the top shot prize for Canadian Rangers, the Captain Shannon Wills QM1 Trophy.
- The Canadian Armed Forces Small Arms Concentration was first organized by the Dominion of Canada Rifle Association with its national range in La Prairie, Quebec, in 1868 and took place at various locations in the National Capital Region before finding its long-time home at the Connaught Ranges Primary Training Centre, where it has been held since 1921.
