Media opportunities for Exercise MAPLE FLAG 50

May 24, 2017 – 4 Wing Cold Lake, Alta. — National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces

Media are invited to observe portions of Exercise MAPLE FLAG 50, taking place at 4 Wing Cold Lake between May 29 and June 23, 2017. This exercise is the Royal Canadian Air Force’s largest and most complex international training event of the year, involving over 1600 Canadian Armed Forces members and over 500 allied military personnel.

When: Media Days – June 8 and June 22, 2017 (Times to be confirmed). Media Hour at Open house/static aircraft display day – June 17, 2017 from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.

What: Specific opportunities include interviews, media flights, extensive tours and photo opportunities.

Where: 4 Wing/CFB Cold Lake, Alberta.

Exercise MAPLE FLAG prepares Canadian and partner nations’ aircrew, maintainers, and other support personnel for the challenges of air operations in the modern aerial battlespace.  Specific training activities include exercising of a coalition command and control process, air-to-air and air-to-surface operations, air-to-air refueling, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, tactical airlift, tactical aviation, and close air support.
