Defence Minister Anita Anand to travel to Poland and Belgium to meet with Allies and partners

The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of National Defence, will travel to Europe from October 10 to 14, 2022 to participate in meetings with Allies and partners on global defence and security issues.

On October 11, Minister Anand will make her first official visit to Warsaw, Poland, and meet with her Polish counterpart, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, Mariusz Błaszczak.

On October 12, Minister Anand will participate in a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, hosted by U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III in Brusssels, Belgium, to continue discussions on the coordination of international military assistance to Ukraine.

On October 12 and 13, Minister Anand will participate in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Defence Ministers’ Meeting in Brussels, where Allies will discuss a number of shared priorities and issues.

On the margins of the NATO Defence Ministers’ Meeting, Minister Anand will also host a Northern Dialogue Meeting with Arctic counterparts to identify opportunities for collaboration on Arctic defence and security issues.
