Minister Wilkinson to lead ceremonial keel laying for future Joint Support Ship 2

Media are invited to attend as Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources and MP for North Vancouver, leads a keel laying ceremony at Seaspan Vancouver Shipyards, marking an important milestone in the construction of the second new Joint Support Ship for the Royal Canadian Navy.

Through our defence policy, Strong, Secure, Engaged, the Department of National Defence is ensuring our Royal Canadian Navy has the equipment it needs to monitor and defend Canadian waters, and to continue making significant contributions to international operations.

Media on-site will have the opportunity to ask Minister Wilkinson questions following the ceremony.

WHAT: Media are invited to attend a keel laying ceremony.

WHEN: Friday, October 27, at 10:30 a.m. PDT
Media are requested to arrive at Seaspan Vancouver Shipyards, with photo identification, no later than 10 a.m. where they will be greeted and escorted to the site.
