Minister Blair to visit Colorado Springs for NORAD Change of Command Ceremony

The Honourable Bill Blair, Minister of National Defence, will travel to Colorado Springs, Colorado on February 5, 2024 to attend the NORAD Change of Command Ceremony, as United States Air Force (USAF) General Gregory M. Guillot is appointed Commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and Commander, United States Northern Command.

The Honourable Bill Blair, Minister of National Defence, will travel to Colorado Springs, Colorado on February 5, 2024 to attend the NORAD Change of Command Ceremony, as United States Air Force (USAF) General Gregory M. Guillot is appointed Commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and Commander, United States Northern Command.

Minister Blair will deliver remarks at the ceremony and will be available to scrum with media on-site after the ceremony.

Date: Monday, February 5, 2024

Time: 10:00 am Mountain Standard Time (MST)

Location: Hangar 1 (Bldg. 140), Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Livestream: The ceremony will be livestreamed via the Defence Visual Information Distribution Service.

Notes for media:

News media organizations are invited to attend the change of command. Media planning to cover the ceremony must contact the N&NC Public Affairs Duty Officer, 719-217-3716 or via email at N-NCPA.omb@mail.mil no later than 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 3, 2024, to arrange for base access. On Feb. 5, 2024, media must arrive at the Visitors' Center at the Peterson Space Force Base West Gate, no later than 7:00 a.m. Plan to transition equipment into a government provided van. A valid government-issued photo I.D. is required for personnel entry. The media van will depart the Visitors' Center for Hangar 140 at 8:00 a.m. The ceremony should conclude at 11:30 a.m., and media representatives will be escorted off base.

Base security will be heightened the day of the ceremony, and only invited guests may attend.
