Media Day: 19 Wing Comox National Search and Rescue Exercise 2024

Media are invited to a Media Day at 19 Wing Comox on September 13, 2024, to take a firsthand look at the largest Canadian Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) in nine years.
19 Wing Comox is hosting 110 Canadian Armed Forces members and approximately 70 American personnel from the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Air Force. Together, 24 squadrons and units will be using 14 aircraft and will respond to over 60 simulated search and rescue scenarios from Sept 9-13, 2024.
What: Media are invited to 19 Wing Comox to interview exercise participants, observe a scenario safety briefing, and capture footage from the hangar. The exercise director and the Commanding Officer - 442 (Transport and Rescue) Squadron, Lieutenant-Colonel Francois Fasquelle will be available for interviews. Following the briefing, media are invited to a location close to 19 Wing to witness the final search and rescue scenario. There will be opportunities for journalists to fly on participating aircraft throughout the exercise with limited available seating.
When: September 13, 2024, at 8 a.m. (PST)
Where: 1625 Military Row - 19 Wing Comox
Media are asked to meet in the CANEX parking lot – across the street from the Comox Air Force Museum – where they will be greeted by Captain Brad Little and escorted to the base.
