Counter Uncrewed Aerial Systems (CUAS) Sandbox 2026

September 25, 2026 – Suffield, Alberta – Department of National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces

The Innovation for Defence Excellence and Security program invited 22 innovators from six countries to demonstrate emerging counter-drone technologies as part of its Counter Uncrewed Aerial Systems (CUAS) Sandbox 2026.

Media are invited to CFB Suffield to observe counter-drone technologies being demonstrated and tested in a field environment. Officials will be available to speak about the technologies being demonstrated, the CUAS Sandbox, and how this work supports the development and evaluation of capabilities for the Defence Team.

Media representatives who wish to participate are asked to contact the Department of National Defence’s media relations office at mlo-blm@forces.gc.ca no later than 8:00 am EDT on September 29, 2026, to confirm their attendance.

Media representatives will be required to provide photo ID and appropriate credentials in advance to facilitate access to CFB Suffield and will be escorted while on the base.

Media representatives covering the Sandbox will receive additional information on timings, parking, and other logistical details once participation in the October 6 media day has been confirmed.
