Technology and Digital Learning Centre (TDLC)
In response to feedback from Summer 2024, we are continuing to offer dynamic and critical eLearning courses to cadets from across the country through the TDLC.
Pre-Course Checklist
- Log into Cadet365 as soon as possible! You need an active Cadet365 account to access all TDLC courses. Visit: Cadet365 if you need help with your account.
- Complete the form Welcome to TDLC 2025! (You are now leaving Canada.ca. Link accessible only on Cadet365) with your shipping info by June 30! You will be receiving training aids as part of your course. In order to send them to you, we need your shipping information, including a street address.
- Complete the Cyber Awareness Course (You are now leaving Canada.ca. Link accessible only on Cadet365) if you haven’t already or you’re not sure. Every cadet has to complete the Cyber Awareness Course once.
- Check your computer or device to make sure it can handle the course requirements. The specific requirements for each course can be found in the section eLearning Courses below.
- Create your space. The ideal learning space should be quiet, well-lit, and free of distractions. You will be required to have a webcam on during synchronous training, so make sure that there are no inappropriate/offensive items in the background. Please respect the privacy and personal space of others within your home as much as possible.
- Watch for your Welcome Email. You will receive a Welcome Email closer to the start date of your course that will provide specific instructions to prepare for the course. If you do not receive this email 7 days before your course begins, please contact us at tdlc.ctan@cadets.gc.ca for assistance.

TDLC Online Summer Courses
All courses are delivered through a combination of engaging online self-led asynchronous and facilitator-led synchronous activities. Cadets need access to their Cadet365 Accounts this summer for eLearning courses. Training delivered through the TDLC occurs during weekdays and takes approximately 5 hours per day.
Cadets attending the TDLC require:
- Laptop/computer
- Stable Internet connection
- Webcam and microphone
- Active Cadet365 account
- Knowledge of Microsoft Teams
- Dress: C5/C5A
What will my days look like?
- English courses start at 11am EDT
- French courses start at 9am EDT
- 3-4 hours of online instruction
- 1-2 hours of assignments, activities or study on your own time

eLearning Courses
Course | Description | Prerequisites |

Cyber Safety and Security Team Leader (CSSTL) | The Cyber Safety and Security Team Leader course provides cadets with the opportunity to engage with cyber security experts in the Canadian Armed Forces, recognize security measures in Windows and Linux, and participate in a cybersecurity competition. Cadets attending this course, if successful, can achieve the Cyber Leader certification. This will help them practice safe online behaviours and be prepared to lead cybersecurity activities in their corps or squadron. |

Support Services Team Leader (SSTL) | The Support Services Team Leader course provides cadets the opportunity to gain an understanding of the internal operations of cadet corps and squadron and how to provide support in areas such as Supply and Administration in leadership positions. Cadets attending this course, if successful, can achieve WHMIS Certification. |
Training Year 2+ Recommended: Training Year 3+ as course content may be challenging for junior cadets. Digital Camera (Mobile or Separate) |
Small Craft Coxswain (SCC) | The Small Craft Coxswain Course provides cadets the opportunity to learn about vessel operations, restrictions, and navigation. They will also learn about aspects of on-water communication, such as distress signals, Maritime Mobile Service, and Radio Operations. Cadets attending this course, if successful, can achieve SCOP Module 1 (Transport Canada Pleasure Craft Operator Competency) and SCOP Module 2 (Transport Canada Restricted Radio Operator's Certificate [Maritime]). Cadets attending this course, if successful, can achieve Transport Canada certification. |

Basic Microdrone Operator (BMDO) | The Basic Microdrone Operator course provides cadets the opportunity to learn about drones in the Canadian Armed Forces, prepare for the Transport Canada Pilot Certificate - Basic Operations exam, obtain their Transport Canada Restricted Operator Certificate (Aeronautical) and explore careers involving drones. Cadets attending this course, if successful, can achieve Transport Canada certification. |

Nova Quest (NQ) | The Nova Quest course provides cadets the opportunity to explore the Canadian Aerospace industry, its exciting past, and the potential future for advanced space technologies. Activities include simulating life in space, and its intricacies in survival, communication, and exploration, identifying celestial objects, and exploring new technologies in the aerospace world. |

Basic Coder (BC) | The Basic Coder course provides cadets the opportunity to explore coding and digital creativity. Activities include learning to use block code in Minecraft and coding a VR robot. Cadets will develop a digital community, compete in eSports competitions, and engage in discussions with the Canadian Armed Forces. | Training Year 2+ |
