Canadian Cadet General Order (CANCDTGEN)
Duke of Edinburgh Program Funding
Ref: DND 2017070013 MoU Concerning Receipt of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Canada (DND 2017070013 MoU DofE and CCO.pdf)
- Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers have been participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Program for generations. Last fall, though, the collaboration between the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award–Canada and the National Cadet and Junior Canadian Rangers Support Group (Natl CJCR Sp Gp) was formalized by the signing of a national memorandum of understanding (MoU) at Ref. A key highlight to this agreement is formal recognition of the equivalencies between cadet and JCR training objectives and the requirements of the award, making it easier for cadets and JCRs who participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Program to track which CCO activities contribute towards their bronze, silver, or gold award.
- This message has been created to direct the following:
- effective immediately, CATO 13-19, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, is rescinded. Procedural guidance pertaining to the CCO’s integration with the Duke of Edinburgh Program (including equivalencies) are found at Ref until such a time as a Natl CJCR Sp Gp Order may be made available; and
- further to para 3 of Ref and as it pertains to the use of public funds in support of the Duke of Edinburgh Program (eg, registration and support for activities), I hereby authorize utilization of public funds (to include LSA funding for RCSUs and/or Community Program funding for CRPGs) accordingly.
