Government of Canada supports community infrastructure projects of three Pontiac municipalities

April 18, 2017 – Gracefield, Quebec – Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, William Amos, Member of Parliament for Pontiac, announced that the Centre récréatif de Wakefield, the Comité des loisirs et de la culture de Sainte-Thérèse-de-la-Gatineau, the Camp des Bouleaux and the Coopérative de solidarité en loisirs de La Pêche have been granted $128,706 in financial assistance, in the form of a non-repayable contribution, to improve playground and sports facility equipment and a sports complex.
The funding has been granted under the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150).

Camp des Bouleaux of the Association d'Églises Baptistes Évangéliques au Québec (in French only)

Non-repayable contribution of $75,000 out of a total investment of $150,000 Incorporated in 1995, this non-profit organization is an outdoor centre for children, families and groups of all ages which offers lectures, training, sports and art and outdoor activities, as well as summer camp. The purpose of the project is to improve the sports field at Camp des Bouleaux in Grand-Remous. More specifically, the project involves installing a roof over the playing field, building and installing two sets of bleachers and building an adjacent boardwalk. The work will enhance the existing infrastructure and make the sports field at the Camp des Bouleaux in Grand-Remous more accessible. The Camp des Bouleaux’s facilities are unique in the region. There is no other similar infrastructure in the municipality of Grand-Remous or in the neighbouring municipalities. |
Comité des loisirs et de la culture de Sainte-Thérèse de Gatineau inc. (in French only)

Non-repayable contribution of $26,925 out of a total investment of $59,175 The Comité des loisirs et de la culture de Sainte-Thérèse-de-Gatineau inc. is a non-profit organization mandated to improve quality of life for the community’s children and residents. The committee has been operating for over 17 years and managing the playground for more than 10 years. The project will improve the playground in the École Laval schoolyard in Sainte-Thérèse-de-Gatineau. The project involves adding playground modules for children 18 months to five years of age and developing the site. The land belongs to the Commission scolaire des Hauts-Bois-de-l'Outaouais. The playground is maintained jointly by the municipality and the committee. |
| Centre Wakefield La Pêche | Non-repayable contribution of $17,957 out of a total investment of $35,913 The Centre récréatif de Wakefield is a non-profit organization incorporated in 1979. Since its establishment, the organization has been promoting the health of community members through sports and physical activity. The centre organizes a variety of events every year at Bill Gonzalez park, including Canada Day and winter carnival, and maintains the park in conjunction with the Municipality of La Pêche. The purpose of the project is to improve Bill Gonzalez park in the Municipality of La Pêche. This involves adding a few playground modules for children and outdoor furnishings (tables and benches), as well as developing the site to make it more attractive for users. |
Coopérative de solidarité en loisirs de La Pêche

Non-repayable contribution of $8,824 out of a total investment of $17,648 The Coopérative de solidarité en loisirs de La Pêche, incorporated in 2003, owns and manages the Complexe sportif de La Pêche, located in La Pêche, in Les-Collines-de-l'Outaouais RCM. The sports complex offers many activities, including ice hockey, figure skating and curling. The project will help the Coopérative de solidarité en loisirs de La Pêche provide residents with an improved sports complex for sports and community activities. More specifically, the project includes upgrading the skating rink cooling system. |
