D.V. Hardwoods to strengthen its presence in international markets

Investment project valued at nearly $760,000
Fassett, Quebec – March 16, 2018 – The governments of Canada and Quebec are confirming the award of $426,825 in financial assistance to D.V. Hardwoods to support its international marketing projects and the integration of new technologies to its lumber grading system, representing total investments of $759,600.
The Government of Canada has awarded a repayable contribution of $257,800 through Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED), under its Quebec Economic Development Program. The Government of Quebec has granted the business $169,025 in financial assistance through the Programme d’exportation (PEX) and the PME en action program over the past two years.
The initiatives focus on growing the company’s hardwood product exports, notably through the development of new markets in China and Africa, and modernizing the lumber grading system. The government contributions supported the implementation of three showrooms in the Shanghai, Nantong and Zhangjiakou areas in China and the hiring of an export specialist to optimize the company’s international business strategy.

In 2016, the Government of Quebec launched the Stratégie québécoise de l’exportation 2016-2020 (website in French only), which includes a measure for providing businesses with financial support for market development projects, particularly those selected under the PerforMe strategy.

Implemented in 2015, the PerforMe strategy (website in French only) seeks to establish business partnerships with enterprises initiating innovation or export projects. To support the growth of these businesses and accelerate the delivery of their projects, the government has adapted its actions to their contexts and specific needs.
