In order to create and market innovative products, businesses must be able to rely on adequate resources. The Government of Canada adopted an ambitious plan to support entrepreneurial drive through concrete initiatives generating growth that benefits both businesses and communities.

Thanks to $955,000 in support, MTL Technologies Inc., Multiples Awnings Inc. and Be one breed (9307-2809 Québec Inc.) are able to proceed with investment projects that are estimated to be worth over $8.4 million and that will contribute to creating 81 jobs in the area. This financial assistance will allow them to make expansion a reality by, among other things, purchasing new production equipment and supporting the development of new markets.

The funding is provided under the Quebec Economic Development Program.

Repayable contribution of $600,000 out of a total investment of $6,615,000

The goal of the project is to allow the company to increase its production capacity and productivity by purchasing state-of-the-art equipment to manufacture refrigerated counters and expand marketing activities abroad. It will allow the company to repatriate the production of some counters from China. The project made it possible to create 9 jobs, with 20 more to be created by the end of 2018.

Founded in 1997 and based in Chambly, MTL Technologies specializes in the design, development, manufacturing and marketing of refrigerated commercial and industrial counters. It has introduced a line of environmentally-friendly products that reduce energy consumption.

Repayable contribution of $245,000 out of a total investment of $1,370,000

The project will allow the company to double its production capacity with the addition and automation of production lines and the refurbishment of its equipment and facilities (including a new showroom) to meet fast-growing demand for its products.

As an established, leading manufacturer, Multiples Awnings designs, makes and sells retractable awnings, solariums and other related products. Thanks to its flourishing online store as a result of its association with Costco.ca, all awnings and sun shades will now be assembled at the Beloeil plant rather than being imported. The company has also entered into an agreement with the U.S. branch of online store Costco.com so that all orders will be manufactured at its plant and shipped directly from there to the homes of clients in the U.S. The company also has a division for custom products, including, among other things, three-season sunrooms, fixed awnings, pergolas, gazebos and motorized mosquito screens, all manufactured on site for Quebec’s retail market. The company intends to create 42 seasonal jobs and more permanent jobs in the long run.

Be one breed (9307-2809 Québec Inc.)

Repayable contribution of $110,000 out of a total investment of $489,000

The aim of the project is to develop the company’s international sales and to purchase production equipment to help it grow. Ten jobs were created as a result of the project.

9307-2809 Québec Inc., better known as Be one breed, manufactures a broad range of accessories (memory foam beds, pet carriers, toys, etc.) for both feline and canine pets.
