Backgrounder: Support for Komutel, UCB (Mundial Group) and Perreault Plastix
Backgrounder
November 5, 2018 – Saint-Georges, Quebec – Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Komutel, UCB (Mundial Group) and Perreault Plastix are innovative and dynamic businesses. To allow them to build on their momentum and ensure their growth, Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions has provided them with repayable contributions totalling $397,625.
The funding was announced today by the Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, Member of Parliament for Gaspésie–Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine and Minister of National Revenue. The assistance from the Government of Canada will allow the recipient businesses to achieve their established growth objectives. Their respective projects will generate total spending of over $2.2 million and will result in the creation of 13 new jobs in the Beauce-Sartigan MRC.
The funding comes from CED’s Quebec Economic Development Program.
Komutel Inc.
Repayable contribution of $200,000 out of a total investment of $700,000
Funding provided for this project will go towards the marketing of Komutel’s software solutions in the U.S. and Europe. The main activities will be the hiring of resources responsible for business development, along with a series of commercialization activities in the target markets. CED’s contribution will cover the salaries of two business development resources, as well as the cost of prospecting activities and participation in trade shows and events. The project is expected to result in the creation of five jobs.
Founded in 2001 in Saint-Georges, Komutel is a high-tech company that specializes in the development and marketing of integrated telecom software solutions known for their interoperability. The company offers a full range of innovative products, some of which are available in cloud-based mode, for organizations looking to maximize their communications performance.
UCB Inc. (Mundial Group)
Repayable contribution of $150,000 out of a total investment of $600,000
The goal of the project is to support UCB’s growth by improving the company’s productivity and increasing its production capacity. It involves the acquisition of high‑performance numerically controlled production equipment, including a vertical machining centre and a turning centre. CED’s contribution will cover the cost of acquiring and installing this equipment. The project is expected to result in the creation of four jobs.
Founded in 1998, UCB specializes in the machining, on a subcontracting basis, of steel, aluminum and stainless steel parts and components for value chain contractors in the rubber (molds), transportation, energy and industrial equipment manufacturing industries.
Perreault Plastix Inc.
Repayable contribution of $47,625 out of a total investment of $923,000
The project involves enhancing Perreault Plastix’ productivity by setting up an integrated management system that incorporates the company’s primary business functions. In addition to this investment, the company plans to acquire two new injection molding machines and to expand its plant. CED’s contribution will only cover the cost of the integrated management system. Upon completion, the project is expected to create four jobs.
Created in 2010, Perreault Plastix is a subcontractor specializing in plastics injection molding and the production of polyurethane parts for various sectors, including the food, transportation and construction industries and the industrial sector.
