$3M in support for Muraflex to accelerate its industry 4.0 transition

News release

Investment of over $8.4M in Montréal’s manufacturing sector

Montréal, May 5, 2021 – The governments of Canada and Quebec are granting a total of $3 million in loans to Muraflex to establish an Industry 4.0 factory and a new production unit. This project, valued at over $8.4 million, will lead to the creation of 75 jobs.

The Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages, the Honourable Mélanie Joly, and the Minister for the Economy, Lucie Lecours, made the announcement today.

The Government of Canada is providing a $1-million repayable contribution through its Regional Economic Growth through Innovation program, while the Ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation (MEI) is granting a $2-million loan through the ESSOR program.

The first component of Muraflex’s project involves installing an Industry 4.0 factory in Montréal to manufacture demountable glass walls. Production capacity for glass doors will thus increase from 400 to 1000 per week. The new equipment will also enable the business to implement better‑performing assembly strategies. The second component of the project aims to establish a unit to produce high-quality glass using advanced automated equipment.
