$14M in Support for Solutions murales Proslat for New Factory in Quebec
Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, December 13, 2021. – The Government of Quebec, Investissement Québec and the Government of Canada are granting $14 million in financial support to Solutions murales Proslat to acquire innovative equipment and build an Industry 4.0 factory in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, in the Montérégie region.
Solutions murales Proslat specializes in garage storage. Currently located in Châteauguay, the company designs and assembles products manufactured in China. The project, valued at $18.5 million, will enable the business to repatriate a significant portion of its production to Quebec, in a new state-of-the-art factory.
The Minister for the Economy, Lucie Lecours, made the announcement today accompanied by the Member for Beauharnois and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Transport, Claude Reid.
Québec’s financial support includes a $5.5-million loan through the ESSOR program, granted by Investissement Québec as the Government of Quebec’s agent, and a total of $5.5 million in loans from its own funds.
For its part, the Government of Canada, through Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED), is providing a $3-million repayable contribution to fund the purchase of equipment for the new facility.
“Thanks to this assistance, Solutions murales Proslat will repatriate to Quebec a good portion of its production, which is currently being done in China. In addition to meeting its clientele’s needs more effectively, the business will, through local production, be able to avoid supply chain disruptions and reduce its ecological footprint. We are proud to support this project! It aligns with several of the priorities in our government’s economic vision.”
Lucie Lecours, Minister for the Economy
“Solutions murales Proslat did not hesitate to launch a project to build a factory in order to resolve certain supply challenges. By going from being a distributor to a manufacturer, it will be able to maintain full control over its production and gain even more shares of the North American market. I congratulate Mr. Éric Letham and his team on their audacity and determination! I am delighted to see businesses with such a reputation enhance the industrial fabric of our region.”
Claude Reid, Member for Beauharnois and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Transport
“The manufacturing industry is a major contributor to Quebec’s economic growth, in addition to providing many jobs. Today’s announcement is proof once again of the Government of Canada’s commitment to businesses in this sector in the Montérégie region. By helping them improve their productivity and by stimulating their growth, our government is helping to ensure Quebec’s manufacturing industry plays a major role in Canada’s economic recovery.”
The Honourable Pascale St-Onge, Member of Parliament for Brome–Missisquoi, Minister of Sport and Minister responsible for CED
Innovation is not just a question of technology. By leveraging this repatriation of its production, Solutions murales Proslat is giving itself all the tools it needs to meet growing demand for its products and to maintain its personalized service, which sets it apart from larger competing businesses in North America. The Investissement Québec team in Montérégie is proud to support businesses with strong growth potential that take on the means to reach their goals, while also contributing to regional economic development.”
