Government of Canada supports Rotobec’s digitization project

News release

Sainte-Justine SME will receive $2.2M in financial assistance from CED.

Sainte-Justine, Quebec, May 3, 2023Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

SMEs have a key role to play in ensuring Quebec’s economic performance. They seek to innovate, grow, and prepare for the future and growth by boosting their competitiveness. That is why the Minister of Sport and Minister responsible for CED, the Honourable Pascale St‑Onge, has announced a repayable contribution of $2.2M for Rotobec Inc. for its digitization project.

This CED support will enable the business to acquire and install high‑tech equipment, including three digital machining centres that will increase its production capacity.

The main driver of the MRC des Etchemins’ economy, this manufacturing business specializes in designing and manufacturing quality, tough industrial handling equipment. Its clientele works in the forestry, rail, and steel recycling sectors. This project will enable the business to enhance its productivity with a view to clean growth and helping to strengthen metal production in the region.

A sustainable, just and more inclusive economic recovery relies, among other things, on the adoption of digital and technological solutions aimed at increasing business productivity. The Government of Canada supports SMEs by investing in technologies that enable them to scale up and improve their capacity. In this way, CED is providing concrete assistance to Quebec’s businesses, entrepreneurs, and workers so they can better position themselves and seize opportunities arising out of an economy in transition.
