Over $4.1M in support for Pro‑Mec Élite to boost its growth and shift to digital

Integrating digital to increase productivity

La Tuque, Quebec, September 29, 2023 – The Government of Canada, the Government of Quebec and Investissement Québec are providing financial assistance to Pro‑Mec Élite in the amount of $4,138,200 as part of its growth plan, launched in 2019.

More specifically, the aim of the financial support is to help Pro‑Mec Élite expand its plant in La Tuque, in the Mauricie region; acquire management software and specialized production equipment; and install digital production lines. This project, valued at close to $7.5 million, aims to increase productivity at the business, which specializes in manufacturing steel structures for bridges and commercial buildings.

The Member of Parliament for Saint‑Maurice–Champlain and Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, the Honourable François‑Philippe Champagne, on behalf of the Minister of Tourism and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED), the Honourable Soraya Martinez Ferrada, and the Minister for the Economy, Minister Responsible for the Fight Against Racism and Minister Responsible for the Laval Region, Christopher Skeete, made the announcement today along with Member for Laviolette–Saint‑Maurice and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister Responsible for Social Solidarity and Community Action (Community Action), Marie‑Louise Tardif.

In recent years, the Government of Canada has provided Pro‑Mec Élite with repayable contributions totalling $2,099,800 under CED’s Regional Economic Growth through Innovation program. For its part, the Government of Quebec is granting a loan of $568,400 under the ESSOR program, managed by Investissement Québec as its representative, as well as a loan of $470,000 under the Fonds de diversification économique du Centre‑du‑Québec et de la Mauricie. Investissement Québec is also granting, from its capital funds, a total of $1 million in loans to the business.
