Ottawa Bluesfest and tourism industry receive Government of Canada support

Today, the Honourable Helena Jaczek, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), announced over $9.8 million through the Major Festivals and Events Support Initiative (MFESI) in support of Ottawa Bluesfest and more than $250,000 for three tourism businesses through the Tourism Relief Fund (TRF).

Ottawa Bluesfest The project will support the return of the Ottawa Bluesfest to its pre-pandemic scale, including an expansion of the festival's mainstage area, from its current location on the grounds of the Canadian War Museum to the adjacent Sir John A. MacDonald Parkway and a new portable stage. This investment will increase capacity for the festival's highest-profile shows, attract top talent and position for future growth. $9,803,436 MFESI
Alicja Confections Inc. The project will support improvements to Alicja's new factory location, as well as the purchase of new operating equipment to resume tours and chocolate making experiences. $100,000 TRF
Escape Tours and Rentals The project will allow Escape Tours and Rentals to expand current offerings and develop a new paddle sport rental facility, positioning the company for future success. $53,000 TRF
Haunted Walks Inc. The project will introduce new programming and add additional historic sites to the company's tour offerings. $98,000 TRF
