K-W Oktoberfest and three tourism organizations in Waterloo Region receive over $2.4 million to enhance activities

Today, the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), announced over $2.4 million through the Tourism Relief Fund (TRF), in support of K-W Oktoberfest and 3 projects in the Waterloo Region.

K-W Oktoberfest Inc.

Expand the event from 10 days to over a month, and add new youth, inclusive and culinary events, including Kidtoberfest and PRIDEtoberfest. In addition, funding will support a new stage, accessible bleachers, new vendor huts and improved signage.

Enhance the annual Gift of Lights event, create Jingle Bell Rock (a new tourism experience), upgrade campsites and add energy-efficient upgrades to the conference centre.

Launch the leisure and recreational-focused ‘Accelerator’ tourism program, enhance digital mapping features and develop authentic tourism experiences with local Indigenous creators and businesses.
