Government of Canada supports tourism recovery and community infrastructure support in southwestern Ontario


Today, Irek Kusmierczyk, Member of Parliament for Windsor–Tecumseh, on behalf of the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), announced an investment of nearly $6 million, through the Tourism Relief Fund (TRF) and the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF), for 26 projects in Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton that will support community infrastructure enhancements, tourism recovery and economic development in the region.

Essex Region Conservation Authority Enhance the "Maple Syrup Festival" with a second location, creating a Maple Trail, adding Indigenous history aspects and creating a mobile Sugar Shack. $329,000 TRF
Grove Brewing Enhance the brewing facility, including the installation of a new HVAC system. $100,000 TRF
Hackforge Develop inclusive tourism experiences by and for the 2SLGBTQI+ community. $105,200 TRF

Paglione Estate Winery Enhance facility, including adding an outdoor tasting, event space and accommodations. $50,000 TRF
Shale Ridge Estate Winery and Cidery Inc. Construct an all-season visitor centre and install a patio with a seating area. $100,000 TRF
Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island Develop the “Multicultural Food Trail” to showcase Windsor-Essex’s regional diversity. $120,000 TRF
Town of Amherstburg Add light displays to “River Lights”, host an evening with Santa and the True Festival. $70,000 TRF
Wedding in the Woods Enhance heating, ventilation, accommodations and storage. $75,619 TRF
Windsor Eats Inc. Create a multi-purpose indoor and outdoor event space. $40,450 TRF
Corporation of the Municipality of Chatham-Kent Replace the existing Mud Creek pathway with a wider, multi-use accessible pathway. $750,000 CCRF
Ottawa Street BIA Install lighting in the historic shopping district located in the Ottawa Street BIA area of the City of Windsor. $48,750 CCRF
Pathways Health Centre For Children Refurbish pool changerooms and office area to increase accessibility and enhance HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems. $748,873 CCRF
Ridgetown District Agricultural Society Construct a new pavilion at the Ridgetown District Pavilion. $155,024 CCRF
Serbian Heritage Museum Of Windsor, Ontario Improve the museum interior through accessibility improvements and exterior space with benches, signage and landscaping. $161,813 CCRF

Windsor Centre For Film, Digital Media And The Creative Arts Rehabilitate the roof of the new Media Arts Community Centre, make building enhancements and create an 'Outdoor Living Room.' $494,947 CCRF
Windsor Public Library Install canopies and outdoor furniture at library branches to expand outdoor library programming and public meeting space. $5,175 CCRF
YMCA of Southwestern Ontario Improve and enhance accessibility and energy efficiency at the Chatham-Kent YMCA Community Centre and Pool. $625,500 CCRF
