Government of Canada highlights supports for workers and businesses in the Windsor-Essex EV Sector

November 15, 2023 - Windsor, ON

Windsor holds immense economic potential, with a skilled workforce, strategic location, and diverse industrial base that drive growth and prosperity in the region. Canadian manufacturers are adopting more sustainable processes and technologies, increasing their production capabilities, and creating good jobs for Canadians, and the Government of Canada is committed to supporting them.

Today, the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), along with Irek Kusmierczyk, Member of Parliament for Windsor-Tecumseh, toured the Windsor-Essex region, and visited the businesses and organizations that call the area home.

Minister Tassi and MP Kusmierczyk started the day at Invest WindsorEssex where they helped launch EV Careers, a new talent attraction tool designed to connect job seekers with employers in the Windsor-Essex EV sector. EV Careers will support the region’s growing electric vehicle (EV) sector by connecting job seekers with local employers, and providing them with all the resources and information they need to build successful careers in this growing industry. This initiative is part of the $7.7-million investment FedDev Ontario has made since 2021 to establish a world-class automobility accelerator and support the long-term growth of the EV sector in the Windsor-Essex region.

Minister Tassi and MP Kusmierczyk finished the day by participating in the Lebanese Heritage Month business roundtable. They discussed the important contributions that these entrepreneurs are making to grow the local economy and the ways in which the Government of Canada can help enhance their potential.

The Windsor-Essex region is an important piece to Canada’s economy, and the Government of Canada knows the value of supporting people as they reach their potential, and turn possibilities into realities.
