Government of Canada invests in pasta manufacturer in Brampton

News release

Over $1.7 million to help Italpasta meet growing product demand and create 10 jobs

May 14, 2024  Brampton, Ontario

By investing in our local food manufacturers, we are supporting them as they compete on a global scale, create quality jobs and bring new food innovations to market.

Today, the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), alongside Maninder Sidhu, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development and Member of Parliament for Brampton East; and Francesco Sorbara, Member of Parliament for Vaughan–Woodbridge, announced an investment of over $1.7 million for Italpasta Limited to enhance the production of its made-in-Canada pasta products.

Founded in Canada in 1989, family-owned and operated Italpasta is committed to sharing Italian traditions with Canadians by producing high-quality pasta products made with Canadian wheat. With this investment, Italpasta will be able to meet the rising demand for its products across North America by replacing old equipment with a state-of-the-art production line with triple the production capacity. In addition, the new manufacturing line and equipment will reduce production times, increase supply chain spending and create 10 skilled jobs.

The project will support clean growth outcomes by reducing the company’s energy consumption and carbon footprint by 20 percent through its modernized storage silos and manufacturing processes.

The Government of Canada is supporting businesses to grow as they deliver innovative solutions to address the evolving needs of both domestic and global markets, while reducing energy consumption.
