What is the indicator

The essential skills indicator will help you gain a better understanding of your essential skills levels. It contains a series of short quizzes that will provide an indication of your skill strengths and areas that may require improvement. This information can help guide your future training decisions and career planning.

Please note this self-assessment tool aligns with the original Essential Skills Framework. In the future, a new or modified assessment tool may replace this one to align with the new Skills for Success. Please visit this page in the coming months and beyond, to learn more about what is new!

Getting started

Select a quiz from the list below.
We recommend that you begin with Level 1, however, you may choose to start at Level 2 or 3.
Answer each question by typing your answer in the answer box provided. It is important that you answer each question. If you choose to skip a question it will be marked as incorrect.
At the end of each quiz, you will have the option to review your answers and make changes.
Once you select the "Submit" button, the quiz will be completed and you will be given a summary of the results.

The indicator now offers a pre and post quiz to help you measure your level of improvement after participating in essential skills training or learning activities.
